MumBod Course –

Becoming a Mum can be really overwhelming. Huge changes occur in most aspects of your life which can be frightening. Mum Bod is all about empowering Mums through education, community and movement.  
After having my son I gained a whole new realisation of how powerful my body was and how important the people we choose to surround ourselves with at this time are. I also realised how lucky I was to have the anatomical understanding I had from years of yoga, Pilates and fascial release teaching.
I noticed that my positive birth experience seemed to be the exception rather than the rule. This felt backwards to me, we are designed to do this, why where my friends so disempowered and traumatized by birth. I realised empowerment was the key to a positive birth experience. And so started my mission to help other women have the same positive experience I did. 
I spent the next 11 months designing this 8 week pregnancy exercise and education course that encapsulates all the things I feel helped to contribute to James’s amazing birth.
Classes run for 1.5hrs and are structured as follows:
  • Connection and Education 30 min - Develop friendships with other mothers while learning pregnancy, birth and rehabilitation concepts.
  • Movement 45 min – Develop strength and ease any niggles with a mixture of Yoga, Pilates and fascial release   
  • Mindfulness Meditation 15 min – Designed to foster deep relaxation and ease worries about birth & motherhood

I attended the MumBod class in November 2017 and very much enjoyed it and came away with loads of helpful information. It's like a friendly unofficial antenatal class where you not only learn about what to expect, you get to move your body and feel better while meeting other mums to be in a supportive conversational environment.

Being my first pregnancy it was great to be welcomed into an environment where I could learn about pregnancy in a positive way. Every day/week as my body started to change was different for me during early pregnancy and I realised there was so much I didn't know. From learning about the female body and what to expect from a physical aspect, to hearing other mum's stories and how to deal with the emotional journey I got a little gem of information to take away with me each week.

Class was a friendly place where I felt comfortable to ask questions, receive advice and gently exercise. Meeting other mums to be and hearing their experiences and opinions was invaluable. I looked forward to going each week. It was my time out where I could relax and learn in a safe, friendly and reassuring environment.

Julia was very supportive and easy to talk to. The course is focused around a positive pregnancy and birth experience regardless of if you're planning a home birth, hospital birth, natural birth or using pain relief. I would recommend it as a course for any mum's to be who want time out each week to learn and prepare their mind and bodies for a positive birth experience."     -    ​Danielle Colvin
